Free downloads??
Well the reason is simple...selling original music on the internet is a pain..no
matter how good it is,and this is an album i'm really proud of. The " Pay Wall" is a well known psychological
barrier for fans of a certain music browsing for new songs..
Its all about logging in to where an artist keeps their
music..registering an acount..wondering if you really do like the song after all..is it safe? Will i really want to listen
to it again after i've bought it? Can i actually be bothered joining a certain site to access the music? Etc Etc Etc ..and
before they know it, most independant hobby musicians like myself are into oblivion with a simple mouseclick away from the
website..Thats why its called The Wall... trying to get a new fan to actually BUY a song is just not worth it!! I personally
have never bought a song from an unknown artist in my life,so why should i expect others to do it?
So..the time,money,frustration,effort
i put into making this album with my friends/musicians counts for nothing? Well,financially..no it doesnt!
Its time to
get real for musicians like myself..The Mad Cat Rockers is not a touring band..Its a studio band and i have a good enough
time and make money from the live work i constantly do every week,and i've been fortunate enough to enjoy that life for
25 years now.
Making an album like this is all about ONE thing..getting it heard and letting people listen and enjoy!!
Simple as,end of story!
Its a labour of love and making money from original music in age where everything is
downloadable,whether you intend it to be just streamed or not,is just not going to happen ..So i'm giving it
away for you to enjoy and get as much pleasure from as we have had making it..
I would simply prefer making the songs
available for easy instant download and have a few fans here and there,than put obstacles in the way of genuine fans of this
kind of music in the hope of making a few pennies...I'm never going to be rich,so why be a stubborn dreamer when i'm
proud of our album and want it to be heard?
To quote a line from one of my songs,Maximum Rock n Roll.." Gimme
some guitars and Gimme some wine..a little piano and i feel fine...you and i ,we got riches just the same!"
So,apart from wanting to use any of the songs for other purposes,such as DVD's, which i'm happy to discuss
and have had a few enquiries about,the songs are yours to enjoy for normal purposes and get them cranked up at parties,on
the dancefloors of the rock n roll circuits around the world!!
